Comparison Thier vs MyFitnessPal

MyFitnessPal logs the meal. Thier explains what it did to you.

MyFitnessPal counts calories. It's the best logging product on the App Store. What it doesn't do is tell you that last night's pizza dropped your HRV 18%, added 32 minutes to your sleep latency, and pushed your bio-age trajectory 0.2 years in the wrong direction.

Thier does. Because Thier reads from MyFitnessPal (or any HealthKit-connected nutrition app), runs the data through a 13-domain bio age model, and tells you what to do about it tomorrow.

The pattern

A calorie log doesn't change behaviour. A consequence does.

Logging food works for the first three weeks. Then it stops. The reason is simple: a calorie log gives you no consequence other than guilt. There's no causal feedback loop between the burrito on Tuesday and how you feel on Wednesday.

Thier closes that loop. Tuesday's burrito → Wednesday's HRV. Friday's wine → Saturday's deep sleep. The carb-heavy lunch → the afternoon glucose spike. Each surfaces in the daily move tomorrow morning.

That's the difference between logging and coaching.

MyFitnessPal Premium pricing reflects publicly listed annual rate as of May 2026. Comparison is structural, not pejorative - MFP is the gold standard for food logging.

Two breakfasts

The morning after a high-carb dinner.

MyFitnessPal

"Yesterday: 2,840 / 2,400 cals. Over by 440."

A red bar. A nudge to "stay on track today". No mention of HRV, no mention of sleep, no mention of what to actually eat for breakfast. The decision is on your willpower.

Thier

"HRV is 14% below baseline. Today's move: protein-led breakfast, skip caffeine until 10am."

The number is contextualised. Yesterday's calorie spike + today's HRV drop produces a specific recommendation, not a guilt prompt. The Longevity Coach can answer "why" - because it's read your data.

"I logged on MyFitnessPal for four years. I lost 8kg. I also burnt out twice and my cortisol was through the roof - neither of which a calorie log could have told me. Thier is the first app that's connected my nutrition to my recovery. I cancelled MFP Premium in week three."

Switch in 5 minutes

Keep the food log. Make it mean something.

  1. Install Thier

iPhone, iOS 17+. App Store, two taps.

  2. Connect Apple Health

One tap. MyFitnessPal already writes to HealthKit; that data flows into Thier.

  3. Connect your wearables

Oura, Apple Watch, Garmin, etc. - they're the recovery side of the equation Thier needs.

  4. Get your bio age

Three minutes of self-report. The model fires, and your existing nutrition history feeds in.

  5. Open it tomorrow at 06:30

"Today's move" reads your meal log + your HRV + your sleep. Cancel MFP Premium when you're ready.

Common questions

For MyFitnessPal users.

Do I have to give up calorie tracking?

No. Most users keep MFP installed for the food database (it's unmatched) and let Thier read the calorie / macro data via HealthKit. The Premium AI features become redundant; the free tier covers logging.

Does Thier have a food database?

We don't try to compete with MyFitnessPal's 14M-item database - that's a different product. Thier reads logged meals via HealthKit. If you don't already log, Thier nudges you toward macro patterns rather than calorie counts.

What if I use Cronometer / Lose It / another logger?

Same. Thier reads from HealthKit, which any modern food-tracking app writes to. The integration is one toggle.

Will Thier set me a calorie target?

Yes - but the target is contextualised against your bio-age trajectory, not just a weight goal. The protocol weighs metabolic, body-comp, and clinical-marker domains together.

What about CGMs and glucose response?

Thier integrates glucose data via HealthKit (Lingo, Dexcom Stelo, libreLink - anything that writes to Apple Health). Glucose feeds the metabolic domain in the bio-age engine.
